Board of directors

The Society of Professional Obituary Writers has established a 10-member Board of Directors, which serves as SPOW's governing body and is in the process of working on the SPOW mission statement, bylaws, organizational structure, 2012 convention, 2012 awards and other topics.

SPOW Board members are:

Larken Bradley (West Marin Citizen, north of San Francisco and writer of custom obits);

Bob Chaundy (UK freelancer, formerly with BBC TV);

Bob Dávila (Sacramento Bee);

Ron Csillag (freelancer, Globe and Mail, Toronto, Ontario, Canada);

Andrew Meacham (St Petersburg Times);

Maureen O’Donnell (Chicago Sun Times);

Kay Powell (retired obits editor for Atlanta Journal-Constitution);

Jade Walker (Blog of Death, Nightowl News);

Mark Zaborney (Toledo Blade);

and Alana Baranick (freelancer for Patch.com, Elyria Chronicle-Telegram and Medina County Gazette, all in Northeast Ohio), who currently serves as director of the organization. She can be contacted at alana.baranick@obitwriters.org.
